The Oluomo of Yewaland, Ibrahim Dende Egungbohun, has congratulated Muslims across the world on the celebration of the 2026 Eid-el-Adha festival, urging Nigerians to embrace the virtues of sacrifice, compassion, and unity associated with the sacred occasion.
Egungbohun, in an e-signed goodwill message issued from Madinah in Saudi Arabia, expressed gratitude to Allah for granting the faithful the opportunity to witness another Eid celebration.
He called on Nigerians to reflect on the spiritual lessons of Eid-el-Adha as exemplified by Prophet Ibrahim, stressing the need for obedience to God, love for humanity, and commitment to peaceful coexistence.
The community leader and businessman also encouraged citizens to support the less privileged and promote harmony across religious and ethnic divides in the interest of national development.
Speaking on the security challenges confronting the country, Egungbohun expressed concern over the increasing cases of abductions and insecurity in parts of Nigeria, lamenting that the joy of the festive season remains incomplete while many innocent citizens are still being held captive.
According to him, Nigerians must continue to pray and work collectively for the restoration of peace and security across the country.
“We stand in total solidarity with the grieving families in Oyo, Ogbomoso, Borno, and other parts of Nigeria. Our hearts are with every teacher and student taken from their schools and homes.
“During this holy season of answered prayers, while I beseech Al-Mu’min to soften the hearts of the captors, I pray for a swift, safe, and miraculous rescue of all victims,” he stated.
Egungbohun further urged Nigerians not to lose hope but remain steadfast in faith and prayers for lasting peace and national stability.
He also prayed for divine wisdom and guidance for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and other leaders of the country, expressing hope that government policies and decisions would strengthen national unity, improve security, and enhance prosperity ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The Oluomo of Yewaland concluded by calling on Nigerians to uphold the enduring values of sacrifice, tolerance, and selflessness which Eid-el-Adha symbolises.
