The Senator Representing Ogun Central Senatorial District, Shuaib Afolabi Salisu Has Assured Nigerians that the Current Economic challenges confronting the country will soon become a thing of the past as President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is working round the clock to repositioned the economy for the betterment of all.
Senator Shuaib Stated this during an interactive session with Members of the Nigerian Union of Journalists, Ogun state Council led by the state Chairman, Comrade Wale Olanrewaju at the Press Centre, Iwe iroyin, Abeokuta.
He attributed the causes of the Current Economic challenges to the bad economic situation inherited from Past Administration, as the Production capacity is low and thereby responsible for the increased exchange rate.
He said that the President is given priority to improve Manufacturing and Production Capacity of Nigeria as well ensure food security.
He further explained That the CBN Ways And means is not sustainable as it has negative effects on Nigeria’s production capacity and that was also part of reasons why the CBN Account was not audited for eight years.
“I acknowledge the challenges faced by Nigerians, I appeal for your commitment to continue enlightening our people.
“It is crucial to strike a balance in legislative duty, especially during challenging times when we distributed aid to bring solace. These times demand a government with clarity, even in the face of inevitable pains, as they pave the way for future relief.
“Despite challenges in the oil sector, the government, under Bola Tinubu’s leadership, is resolute in its clear direction. A collective show of support for the administration is imperative, and the positive impact of federal savings is now cascading down to states and local governments, “he added
The Chairman, Senate Committee on ICT and Cyber Crime who is also a member of 15 committees at the senate, said that under his watch, the ICT and Cyber Crime Act 2015 has been reviewed to accommodate modern Technological trend such as the artificial intelligence. Among others.
He said that he had also trained 50 youths from Ogun Central on ICT related courses and equipped them with laptops, 1000 brilliant Candidates were given Free Jamb forms,
The senator added that he has facilitated Community ICT Centres where Youths will be trained on application of latest Technology to become employer of labour in that sector. He has also given Employment opportunities to some members of his constituency into Federal Government Establishments, Distribution of food items to constituents during Christmas and new year celebrations.
And He further said that he is Currently Proposing A bill on national Internship program and unemployed youths scheme that will soon passed second Reading at senate seeking to provide a platform for unemployed graduates to practise his/her studied profession as interns while earning stipend pending permanent employment as is being practiced in advanced country.
‘If American says God bless America, it comes from his/her heart because of what the country has done for them. We must build Nigeria youths for them to be able to say God bless Nigeria. It high time government starts paying unemployed graduates in the country.”
While saying that the engagement with Ogun NUJ Kick Started his Stakeholders engagement Across the Ogun Central senatorial District, He Enjoined youths not loose hope on things because he has contested several times but won at the fifth attempts.
While appreciating Journalists in Ogun state for their supports through thick and thin, he encouraged them to continue to enlighten people on issues of national interests.
He however promised to donate solar power that will be used to power the Ogun NUJ secretariat and also approved the introduction of SAS annual press award for Journalists in Ogun state.
Earlier in His Welcome Address, The Chairman,Nigeria Union of Journalists, Ogun state Council Appreciated the senator for his achievements while serving as chief of staff to governor Dapo Abiodun and assured him Of the Council supports to deliver on his campaign promises to the people.
