Eighteen out of 26 members of the Ogun state House of Assembl on Tuesday January 23, 2024, impeached the Speaker, Rt. Hon. Olakunle Oluomo.
It was gathered that Oluomo’s opponent at the last speakership election, Hon. Oludaisi Elemide, has been announced as the new speaker.
According to Soneye Damilola kayode , Representing Obafemi owode constituency while addressing the press alongside some Lawmakers explained that Oluomo has been denying the assembly members several benefits despite the fact that governor Abiodun has been funding the assembly.
” when Rt honourable Oluomo came on board, we never wanted him, but party leaders appealed to us that since he was the Speaker during the first term, we should allow him, and we all agreed as faithful party persons , Olu Omo will be going every where and tell us that governor has not approved anything we should manage, that the governor has not been releasing money, we later found out that the governor has been given us money, he takes memo to the governor, and he gets money.
“Legislative Quarters Allowance, Oluomo after given members took the remaining one and embezzled it.
18 of us come together and say ,we can’t be looking at this thing like this.this thing is our future, we said how can we manage ourselves with Oluomo, and we said that we don’t want him.He keeps inciting members against each other, He keeps inciting legislature against Executive, this is so bad, we cannot take this any longer, is arrogance and is full of himself.
“We have sat, we have changed the leadership of the house, the house is under the control of Rt. honourable Elemide Oludaisi Olusegun and He should go and clear his name on the the existing litigation with EFCC.we are not fighting mr governor.”
Governor doesn’t interfere with the legislative affairs, the governor is a democrat.He added
