L-R: The President Western Nigerian Union Conference (WNUC) Seventh-day Adventist Church, Pastor Ezekiel Adeleye; Group Managing Director First Holdco PLC, Mr. Wale Oyedeji; The representative of the Ogun State Governor/Chairman Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB), Evangelist Ifede Olálékan; The director Adventist Men’s Organisation (AMO), Elder Olusola Olayinka and the Vice Chancellor Babcock University, Prof. Ademola Tayo, during the Seventh-day Adventist Church WNUC AMO 2025 Convention at Babcock University Ilishan-Remo, Ogun State on Thursday.

The Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun has charged Nigerians, especially men as leaders in their respective homes to renew their commitment to transforming the society for the better by deepening their relationship with God and exhibiting lifestyles that reflect the character of Christ.

Governor Abiodun gave the charge on Thursday in a keynote address during the opening ceremony of the Seventh-day Adventist Church, Western Nigeria Union Conference Adventist Men’s Organization (AMO) Convention at Babcock University, Ilishan-Remo, Ogun State.

Represented by the Chairman of Ogun State Universal Basic Education Board, (SUBEB), Evangelist Ifede Olalekan, the governor reminded men that God has ordained them to be priests, protectors and proclaimers of the gospel in their homes, churches and communities, noting that the narratives of the country will change positively if men are alive to their spiritual responsibilities.

Speaking on the theme of the convention: “Mission To Neighbors – I Will Go”, governor Abiodun said it was not only relevant but urgent in today’s society.

“The theme of this convention speaks directly to the core of Christian responsibility, especially in a time when moral darkness seems to grow bolder in our communities. God is raising men, not mere church-goers, but mission-minded, Spirit-led men to be light in their neighborhoods and salt in their cities”.

While pledging his administration’s commitment to partnering religious and civic organizations to build a more just, peaceful and morally upright society, the Governor reiterated commitment to prioritizing the welfare of the people and providing purposeful leadership and quality governance that delivers dividends of democracy to the people.

In his goodwill message, the President, Western Nigeria Union Conference of Seventh-day Adventist Church, Pastor Ezekiel Atolagbe Adeleye commended the current leadership of AMO in the Union for organizing the convention after some years and expressed happiness that men in the Union can now come together as brothers in the same family of God.

While reminding men that God has called them for a mission which must begin from homes, Pastor Adeleye noted that men, as heads of families and priests in their homes must prioritize the salvation of their wives and children before taking the mission to their neighbors.

Earlier in a welcome address, the Director, Adventist Men’s Organization, Western Nigeria Union Conference, Elder Olusola Olayinka thanked God for making the convention a reality in spite of the current socio-economic challenges confronting the country.

Elder Olayinka urged men in the Union to be united and always express unconditional love and service towards others as Jesus Christ exemplified, pointing out that it will be difficult to preach and impact the world if the church is not united.

The WNUC AMO Director used the occasion to acknowledge the giant strides of the the Prince Dapo Abiodun-led administration in Ogun State and assured of prayers for the government.

“In this convention, we are devoting quality time to pray for this highly prized State, Ogun and Nigeria as a nation as we grapple with with the socio-political, economic and security challenges of these last days”, Elder Olayinka assured.
