APC Reps Candidate, Toyin Taiwo, Supports Students Across Ipokia with Educational Materials
Dr. Emmanuel Oluwatoyin Taiwo, the immediate past Chief of Staff to the Governor of Ogun State and the All Progressives Congress candidate for the Yewa South/Ipokia Federal Constituency in the 2027 general elections, has distributed educational materials to pupils and students in public primary and secondary schools across Ipokia Local Government Area.
The materials, which included exercise books, school sandals and socks, were presented to students in selected schools as part of Dr. Taiwo’s commitment to supporting children from less-privileged families, easing the financial burden on their parents and ensuring that no child is denied access to education because of economic hardship.
Speaking during the distribution exercise, Dr. Taiwo explained that the intervention was prompted by reports that some pupils and students had been unable to resume for the new academic session because their parents could not afford basic learning materials.
According to him, the situation required an immediate and compassionate response, particularly as education remains one of the most important foundations for personal development and the progress of society.
“I received reports that some of our pupils and students could not resume for the new academic session because their parents were unable to provide the basic learning materials they needed. When I came here today, I also discovered that many of them had resumed in worn-out school uniforms,” he said.
Dr. Taiwo assured the affected students that arrangements were being made to provide them with new school uniforms, adding that the distribution would be completed before the end of the following week.
He further disclosed that the educational support initiative would be extended to public schools in Yewa South Local Government Area in the coming week, reaffirming his determination to promote access to education throughout the federal constituency.
“Our objective is to ensure that every child has the basic materials required to learn with confidence and dignity. The circumstances of a child’s parents should never become a permanent barrier to that child’s education or future,” he added.
Speaking at one of the schools, the Chairman of Ipokia Local Government, Hon. Johnson Akohomeh Avoseh, commended Dr. Taiwo for the timely intervention, describing it as a thoughtful gesture that would complement the local government’s efforts to improve educational infrastructure and learning conditions.
Hon. Avoseh disclosed that his administration had renovated and commissioned approximately 15 primary and secondary schools since assuming office, noting that collaboration among government institutions, community leaders and public-spirited individuals remained essential to the advancement of education.
Also speaking, a former Chairman of Ipokia Local Government and Commissioner with the Ogun State Universal Basic Education Board, Hon. Isiaka Aderonmu, described the initiative as both commendable and impactful.
He stated that the provision of essential educational materials would boost the morale of the beneficiaries, improve their confidence and encourage them to devote greater attention to their studies.
The schools visited during the distribution exercise included Ipokia Local Government Primary School; Maun Community Commercial Secondary School, Ipokia; Community High School, Tube; Methodist Primary School, Agada; Methodist Primary School, Iganmi; and Ogbe Community High School, Ajegunle-Mede, all within Ipokia Local Government Area.
Members of Dr. Taiwo’s entourage included the APC Chairman in Ipokia Local Government, Hon. Wale Agbetokun Onikoyi; the Vice Chairman of Ipokia Local Government, Hon. Grace Okewole; a former member of the Ogun State House of Assembly; and former council chairmen, Hon. Abiodun Akovoyon, Hon. Dosu Amos, Hon. Adeniyi Hosu and Hon. Kabir Abolurin, among others.
The intervention was warmly received by school administrators, teachers and beneficiaries, who expressed appreciation for the support and described it as a meaningful contribution towards improving students’ welfare and educational development across Ipokia Local Government Area.
