The All Progressives Congress (APC) National Assembly Primary Election Committee on Tuesday announced Governor Dapo Abiodun, Senator Shuaib Afolabi Salisu and Jimoh Ojugbele as winners of the party’s senatorial primaries in Ogun East, Ogun Central and Ogun West respectively.
The results were announced by the Chairman of the committee, Shaibu Philips, during a press conference held at the APC Secretariat in Abeokuta.
Despite announcing the winners, the committee stressed that no candidate would be officially declared victorious until all complaints and appeals arising from the exercise were fully resolved.
Philips explained that the results announced were based on collated figures from polling units and constituencies across the state, adding that the committee was still verifying the outcome in line with party guidelines and electoral laws.
According to him, the committee would review all complaints before making any final declaration on the exercise.
“The results that have been collected are currently being verified. We will return to our office before officially declaring a winner,” he said.
“Once all appeals and complaints regarding the results have been addressed, we shall then officially announce and declare the winners of the elections.
“No winner will be declared until all result-related appeals have been properly reviewed. We have already communicated this position to everyone involved.”
Philips noted that members of the committee, alongside the party’s National Working Committee and Ogun State APC leadership, monitored the conduct of the primaries across the state to ensure compliance with electoral laws and party regulations.
He added that a comprehensive report of the exercise would be submitted to the party leadership before any official declaration is made through the appropriate communication channels.
