Abiodun Charges Financial Institutions on Corporate Social Responsibility

Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, has called on corporate organizations operating in the state to collaborate with his administration in making life comfortable for the people.

Abiodun, who made the call on Friday when he commissioned the Abeokuta branch of Premium Trust Bank at Oke-Ilewo, stated that their relevance would not only be defined in profit-making but in the impact they make through Social Corporate Responsibility (CSR).

He said the bank had, in the past, played an active part in national development through the sponsorship of sports and youth development programs, including the last National Sports Festival held in Delta State and the current Gateway Games in Ogun State.

He said: “Let what Premium Trust Bank is doing serve as a blueprint for your Social Corporate Responsibility. It must not be an afterthought, but a core pillar of your operational philosophy.

“Whether in supporting small-scale enterprises, education, healthcare, or environmental sustainability, your relevance would be defined not just by profitability alone, but by social impact.”

Abiodun observed that the presence of the bank in the state capital is an affirmation of the successful implementation of his administration’s vision through the ISEYA development pillars, just as it endeavors to bridge the rural-urban gaps and promote synergy between agriculture, manufacturing, and harmonizing productive efforts and service centers.

He said the establishment of more banks signifies a new era as it is yielding positive results in economic activities across the state, contributing to the further goals of sustainable development.

Premium Trust Bank, the governor noted, has distinguished itself in the last three years as a foremost financial institution by pursuing financial inclusivity and innovative services.

He appreciated the bank for supporting the state in its bid to host the National Sports Festival, adding that his administration would work with genuine investors to further develop the state.

The Olowu of Owu, Oba Saka Matemilola, in his goodwill message, said the state has grown industrially in the past years because of the conducive business environment put in place by the present administration.

He said the coming of the bank into the financial sector would engender positive reforms, calling on others to take advantage of the enabling environment to invest in the state.

The Director General of the National Sports Commission, Mr. Bukola Olopade, in his remarks, lauded the bank for standing by the state during the bidding period and being the leading sponsor of the festival while endorsing sports personalities across the nation.

The Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of the bank, Mr. Emmanuel Efe Emefienim, emphasized that the opening of the branch is a celebration of a milestone, adding that the bank, in its three years of existence, has 22 branches across the country.

He said as the lead sponsor of the Gateway Games, the bank shares the aspirations of the people of the state, as it has designed a digital financial platform to support the indigenes.
