A Vision for Remo: An Exclusive Interview with Hon. Oyeleke Folajuwon Oluwole, House of Representatives Aspirant, Remo Federal Constituency

  1. Can you briefly tell us who you are?

My name is Oyeleke Folajuwon Oluwole, born in Sagamu Remo, Ogun State, Nigeria. I am the last child of Late Chief Olubayode Omololu Oluwole and Yeye Olawunmi. I am married and blessed with three children.

  1. What inspired you to aspire for the House of Representatives seat?

My inspiration comes from the cry of our people. We have youth seeking opportunities, communities in need of infrastructure, and Remo as a region that is ready for strategic transformation. I am driven by a core desire to be the voice for Remo at the national level. This is also to negotiate what is rightfully ours and to move from just complaining to action. I feel it is time for a capable and passionate leadership that gets results.

  1. What political party are you running under? And why did you choose this party?

I am running under the All Progressive Congress (APC). I have been a progressive all my life and a member of this party since it started. I chose this party because it represents my values and it gives a platform with national reach, influence, and structure to drive developmental initiatives. More importantly, this party is a platform where our voice and vision for Remo can thrive and where I, as the representative, can negotiate federal presence and projects for our people.

  1. What is your vision for Remo Federal Constituency?

My vision is a transformed Remo—a Remo that is united, empowered, thriving, with skilled and employed youth, towns developed with modern infrastructure, and a respected voice in Abuja. We’ve seen that with the late Rt. Hon. Oriyomi Onanuga. She represented us and created a voice for Remo Federal Constituency in Abuja. I envision a constituency that takes pride in its progress and is ready to take charge of its future.

  1. What three legislative policies will you focus on?

Though there are many, the top three are:

Youth Empowerment and Employment Creation through skills training, entrepreneurship support, and ICT development.

Infrastructure and Community Development by pushing for better roads, healthcare, and educational upgrades.

Security and Social Welfare through support for community policing and social safety nets.

  1. How do you plan to address youth unemployment and underemployment in Remo?

We will initiate vocational training hubs, advocate for federal jobs tailored to our youth, and create strategic partnerships with private and international stakeholders. I would push for a Remo Talent Fund to support startups and skilled artisans, encouraging job creation rather than just job seeking.

  1. How have you engaged with the people of Sagamu, Ikenne and Remo North, prior to this aspiration?

Through community outreaches, development dialogues, and building strategic teams. I’ve gone around town listening, learning, and leading quietly. Now, I am stepping forward with the voice of the people backing me.

  1. What role have you played in community development for all local governments?

I have served as a facilitator for development initiatives, partnered with youth leaders for skill programs, and personally helped families through health, education, and welfare challenges. My leadership has been results-driven.

  1. What specific experiences or skills make you a strong candidate for this office?

I am a trained negotiator, disciplined public servant, and transformational servant leader with a background in international relations, diplomacy, and strategic leadership. I understand how systems work and how to make them work for Remo.

  1. Have you held any leadership or public service positions before now?

Yes. I have served in the Army and am a strategic planner involved in mentoring leaders and building systems under pressure. I’ve led faith-based civic initiatives, coordinated humanitarian outreaches, and advised on mental health, welfare, and youth programs.

  1. How do you plan to remain accountable to your constituent if elected?

Accountability begins with access. I will operate an open-door constituency model with quarterly town halls and a standing council of community representatives to monitor and advise me. Transparency is non-negotiable.

  1. What will your constituency look like and how often will you interact with the people?

My constituency office will be active, accessible, and responsive. We will also have satellite offices in each of the three local governments—Sagamu, Ikenne, and Remo North—with trained aides to maintain close contact with the community.

  1. How will you collaborate with other lawmakers to ensure Remo gets federal attention and projects?

By building relationships, using data-driven advocacy, and engaging in strategic negotiations. I will present Remo as a worthy investment to relevant committees and ministries. I’m often called a bridge builder and results-driven negotiator.

  1. What strategies will you use to attract federal projects and investments to Remo?

We are conducting needs assessments and packaging Remo’s value propositions. We will push for budget inclusions and intervention schemes, leverage networks, and foster public-private collaborations to bring infrastructure and jobs to our land.

  1. What do you consider the biggest challenge facing Remo Federal Constituency?

The biggest challenge is neglect—of talent, development, and voice—due to past underrepresentation. The late Rt. Hon. Oriyomi Onanuga began to change that. I intend to build on that progress and ensure Remo’s voice is always heard.

  1. How do you plan to run your campaign?

I will ensure our campaign is peaceful, issues-based, and inclusive. My team is trained on stability and respect. We embrace all voices—women, youth, elders—and focus on solutions, not slander. We will lead by example..
