…Joins NIICTE Board of Fellows, Reaffirms Commitment to “Engineering of Impact” and Digital Innovation
The Chairman of the Nigerian Society of Engineers (NSE) Branch Chairmen Forum, Engr. Olumayowa Ayodeji Idowu, FNSE, SMIEEE, has been conferred with the prestigious Fellowship of the Nigerian Institute of ICT Engineers (NIICTE), in recognition of his professional accomplishments, leadership and contributions to Engineering development in Nigeria.
Idowu, who is also the Immediate Past Chairman of the NSE Abeokuta Branch, was formally admitted into the Institute’s Board of Fellows, during the NIICTE 2nd International Conference, Fellowship and Annual General Meeting held at the National Engineering Centre, Abuja. The conference was themed “Building the Future of ICT Engineering: Bridging the Digital Divide through Skills, Innovation and Opportunities.”
In a formal conferment letter jointly signed by the National Chairman of NIICTE, Engr. Oluwadara S. Oluwalana, FNSE, and the National Secretary, Engr. Yusuf Shobowale, MNSE, MNIICTE, the Institute stated that the Fellowship, which entitles Idowu to use the designation FNIICTE, recognises distinguished professionals who have demonstrated excellence, integrity, leadership and commitment to advancing ICT Engineering and national development.
Reacting to the honour, Idowu expressed appreciation to the Institute, describing the recognition as a renewed call to service and an affirmation of his professional philosophy of “Engineering of Impact.” “I am deeply honoured by this recognition. For me, Fellowship is not merely about adding another title to one’s name, but about the responsibility to contribute more meaningfully to society. I have always believed in Engineering of Impact, where our success as engineers should be measured not only by our qualifications or positions, but by the problems we solve, the lives we improve and the positive changes we bring to our communities and nation,” he said.
He further emphasised the importance of emerging technologies in addressing national challenges. “Artificial intelligence, digital transformation and emerging technologies are reshaping our world. As engineers, we must move beyond theories and discussions to developing practical solutions, particularly in healthcare, education, infrastructure and public service delivery. My work in artificial intelligence and image processing has reinforced my conviction that engineering innovations must translate into real-world solutions that improve lives. That, to me, is the true essence of Engineering of Impact,” Idowu added.
