The Chairman of the Nigerian Society of Engineers (NSE) Branch Chairmen Forum, Engr. Olumayowa Ayodeji Idowu, FNSE, is set to speak on smart construction and digital transformation at the 2026 Gateway Builders Conference and Annual General Meeting of the Nigerian Institute of Building, Ogun State Chapter.
The two-day conference, scheduled for October 13 and 14, 2026, at the Quarry Imperial Hotel, Abeokuta, Ogun State, has the theme, “Building the Future: Innovation, Sustainability and Opportunities in Modern Construction.”
Idowu, who is also the Convener of Engineering of Impact, will deliver a presentation titled “Smart Construction and Digital Transformation.”
According to the organisers, the guest speaker is expected to examine how technology, smart tools and digital processes are reshaping the construction industry and creating new opportunities for builders and other professionals in Nigeria. His presentation is also expected to highlight the growing importance of digital transformation in the built environment, with emphasis on smarter project delivery, efficiency, productivity, innovation and sustainable development.
Other sub-themes of the conference include “Sustainable Urban Planning and Smart Cities” and “Innovation and Sustainable Affordable Housing Solutions for a Growing Population.”
The Ogun State Commissioner for Physical Planning and Urban Development, TPL. Tunji Odunlami, will serve as Chairman of the Occasion, while the Ogun State Commissioner for Environment, Hon. Ola Oresanya, will be the Special Guest of Honour.
In its invitation to Idowu, the NIOB Ogun State Chapter cited his contributions to Engineering practice and expertise in modern construction technology, noting that his experience would be valuable to members and other stakeholders at the conference.
The organisers said the Gateway Builders Conference and AGM would provide a platform for professionals and stakeholders in the built environment to exchange ideas on innovation, sustainability, technology and emerging opportunities in modern construction.
