Member representing Ogun Waterside State Constituency in the Ogun State House of Assembly, Hon. Lawal Samusideen Adekunle, popularly known as Lawee, has commended teachers across the country for their dedication, sacrifice and invaluable contributions to the development of society.
Lawee, in a message commemorating Teachers’ Day, described teachers as nation-builders whose influence extends far beyond the classroom, noting that their commitment to educating, mentoring and inspiring younger generations remains critical to the future of the society.
He said teaching should not be viewed merely as a profession, but as a selfless responsibility through which individuals and communities are transformed and future leaders are produced.
According to him, “Teaching is more than a profession; it is a selfless commitment to building lives and creating generations of leaders.”
The lawmaker acknowledged the sacrifices made by teachers in the discharge of their responsibilities, including the long hours, challenges and personal commitments required to ensure that students acquire the knowledge, discipline and values necessary to become responsible citizens.
He noted that behind virtually every successful professional, community leader and responsible citizen is a teacher whose knowledge, guidance, patience and encouragement contributed significantly to such achievements.
Lawee said, “Behind every successful professional, community leader and responsible citizen is a teacher who gave knowledge, guidance, patience and encouragement.”
The Ogun Waterside lawmaker further commended teachers for frequently going beyond the conventional demands of their profession, stressing that their contributions are often made quietly without immediate recognition or adequate appreciation.
He said although the efforts of teachers may not always be visible, their impact is evident in every generation they have helped to shape.
“Your labour may not always be seen, but its impact is felt in every generation you have helped to shape,” he said.
Lawee stressed that the progress of any society is closely connected to the quality of its education system and the commitment of those entrusted with educating its citizens.
He therefore called for sustained recognition, encouragement and support for teachers, describing their welfare and professional development as important investments in the future of the country.
While celebrating teachers for their service, the lawmaker said their work deserves not only commendation on Teachers’ Day but continuous appreciation and support throughout the year.
He added, “Today, we celebrate your dedication. We honour your sacrifice. We appreciate your service. And we salute your invaluable contribution to our society.”
Lawee expressed optimism that the efforts of teachers would continue to produce positive results and leave enduring footprints in the lives of their students and communities.
He urged teachers to remain committed to their calling, assuring them that the lives they have touched and the generations they have influenced remain their greatest legacy.
“May your efforts continue to yield lasting fruits, and may you always be reminded that the lives you have touched are your greatest legacy,” he said.
The lawmaker concluded by extending his warm felicitations to teachers across Ogun State, particularly those serving in Ogun Waterside, and described them as hardworking and inspiring professionals whose contributions remain indispensable to the growth and development of society.
He wished all teachers a happy Teachers’ Day and appreciated them for their continued service to humanity and the nation.
