Joy and thanksgiving filled Oke Odan in Yewa South Local Government Area of Ogun State as a retired Civil Servant and clergyman, Pastor Zacchaeus Ogundele, and his wife, Pastor (Mrs.) Ogundele, fulfilled a lifelong covenant with God by donating a newly completed church auditorium to the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), The Lord’s Doing Parish.

The newly dedicated church, which is under RCCG Ogun Province 21, attracted church leaders, worshippers, community members and dignitaries who gathered to witness the fulfilment of what Pastor Ogundele described as a promise he made to God as his retirement thanksgiving.

Presiding over the dedication, the Pastor-in-Charge of RCCG Region 44, Ogun State, Pastor Francis Oluwalade, praised Pastor Ogundele for faithfully fulfilling his covenant with God by completing the church project from foundation to completion.

He described the edifice as far more than a place of worship, saying it would serve as a spiritual altar where lives would be transformed and souls won for Christ.

According to him, “This is not just a church building; it is an altar and the beginning of a new divine light in Oke Odan. We pray that this light will shine beyond this community and spread across the entire town, bringing salvation, peace and God’s blessings to the people.”

Pastor Oluwalade further urged Christians to emulate the donor’s commitment to God’s work, noting that investments made in the kingdom of God leave lasting legacies that impact generations.

Speaking shortly after the dedication, Pastor Zacchaeus Ogundele said the church was built solely to appreciate God’s unfailing faithfulness throughout his life and career. He explained that despite facing several challenges during his years in service and personal life, God never abandoned him but continually granted him victory and success.

“Everything I have become in life is by the grace and faithfulness of God. There were difficult moments in my career and personal journey, but God stood by me and saw me through them all. I made a covenant with Him that if He fulfilled His promises in my life, I would build a church for His glory. Today, I am grateful that He has given me the grace to fulfil that promise,” he said.

Pastor Ogundele added that the church was dedicated to the propagation of the gospel of Jesus Christ and expressed optimism that it would become a centre for spiritual revival and community development. He pledged to continue serving God and supporting His work for the rest of his life.

The pioneer Parish Pastor of the church, Pastor Adekunjo Oluwagbenga Adedeji, expressed appreciation to Pastor Ogundele and his family for their generosity and commitment to the kingdom of God. He described the donation as a significant milestone in the spiritual growth of the church and prayed that God would reward the donors with long life, sound health and greater blessings.

Also speaking at the event, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate for Yewa South State Constituency, in the forthcoming 2027 Elections in Ogun state , Hon. Rotimi Ogundele, commended the donor for fulfilling his promise to God, describing him as a man of integrity, humility and unwavering faith.

He said Pastor Ogundele’s life had remained a source of inspiration to many within and outside the family, adding that the gesture further demonstrated the values for which the Ogundele family is known.

“My senior brother has always been a wonderful and God-fearing personality. His decision to build this church is a testimony to his love for God and humanity. The Ogundele family has always been known as promise keepers, trustworthy people and individuals who fear God. Today’s event has further strengthened that reputation,” he said.

The dedication ceremony which was attended by Provincial Pastor Adesina Omitogun and his wife Pastor (Mrs) Afolake Omitogun featured special prayers, thanksgiving, worship sessions and goodwill messages from church leaders and invited guests, who described the new church as a landmark that would contribute immensely to the spread of Christianity and the spiritual development of Oke Odan and its neighbouring communities.
