The Secretary of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Ogun State Council, Comrade Bunmi Adigun, has congratulated the Kurunmi of Ìjàyè-Ègbáland, Aare (Prof.) Láí Lábodé, on the first anniversary of his ascension to the traditional stool, describing his reign as one marked by visionary leadership, peace and community development.
In a congratulatory message made available to journalists on Saturday, Adigun said the monarch’s one year on the throne had brought renewed hope, unity and remarkable progress to Ìjàyè-Ègbáland.
The NUJ secretary, who identified himself as a proud son of Ìjàyè with ancestral roots in the Oladosu Compound on his paternal side and the Anigbio Compound on his maternal side, commended the royal father for his commitment to preserving the community’s cultural heritage while embracing development-oriented initiatives.
According to him, the monarch has, within a short period, redefined traditional leadership through purposeful service, inclusiveness and unwavering dedication to the growth of the ancient town.
“This milestone is not only a celebration of one year of leadership but also a testament to purposeful service, visionary leadership and unwavering commitment to the progress of our community,” he said.
Adigun noted that under the monarch’s leadership, Ìjàyè has witnessed increased visibility, stronger unity among its people and renewed pride among indigenes both at home and in the diaspora.
He added that the royal father’s accessibility, wisdom and dedication to community development had continued to inspire confidence and attract widespread admiration across Egbaland and beyond.
The journalist further stated that the monarch’s reign reflects values of peace, dialogue, inclusiveness and community engagement, describing them as qualities that resonate with the ideals of responsible leadership.
“As journalists, we appreciate leaders who understand the importance of truth, dialogue and community engagement. Your reign has reflected these values by fostering peace, inclusiveness and a sense of belonging among all sons and daughters of Ìjàyè,” he stated.
Adigun prayed for continued good health, divine wisdom and a long, peaceful reign for the traditional ruler, expressing optimism that his leadership would usher in greater development and lasting prosperity for Ìjàyè-Ègbáland.
He wished the monarch many more years of impactful service, while urging the people of the community to continue supporting the royal father in his efforts to promote peace, unity and sustainable development.
