The Ogun State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has unveiled Mrs. Kudirat Adegunwa-Balogun as the running mate to the party’s governorship candidate, Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola popularly known as Yayi ahead of the 2027 governorship election in the state.
The announcement was made on Sunday during the APC State Caucus meeting held in Abeokuta, where party leaders ratified key decisions aimed at strengthening the party’s preparations for the forthcoming electoral contest.
Adegunwa-Balogun, a chartered accountant and Chief Financial Officer of Rite Foods Limited, is the daughter of prominent industrialist and Asiwaju of Ijebuland, Chief Sulaiman Adebola Adegunwa. She is widely regarded in corporate circles for her extensive experience in financial management and corporate governance, having spent more than two decades in the private sector.
Speaking at the meeting, Governor Dapo Abiodun lauded party members and leaders for maintaining unity and discipline throughout the party’s internal selection process.
According to the governor, the APC successfully emerged with candidates for 39 elective positions from a pool of over 700 aspirants without major disagreements, a development he described as a testament to the maturity and cohesion of the party in the state.
Abiodun urged party faithful to remain committed to the collective goal of ensuring the APC’s victory in the 2027 general elections.
In his remarks, the APC governorship candidate, Senator Adeola, expressed confidence in the choice of Adegunwa-Balogun as his deputy, citing her professional accomplishments, leadership qualities and wealth of experience.
He noted that her inclusion on the ticket would further strengthen the party’s appeal across the state and enhance its capacity to deliver effective governance.
“Kudirat Adegunwa-Balogun possesses the competence, character and experience required for the task ahead. I have no doubt that she will bring immense value to our administration and contribute significantly to the development of Ogun State,” Adeola said.
In her acceptance speech , Kudirat Adegunwa-Balogun expressed appreciation to the party leadership, Governor Abiodun and Senator Adeola for the confidence reposed in her.
She pledged to justify the trust placed in her by working diligently with the governorship candidate to secure victory for the APC and deliver impactful governance to the people of Ogun State.
“I am deeply honoured by this responsibility and the confidence the party has shown in me. I will remain committed to the ideals of the APC and work tirelessly alongside Senator Adeola to advance the development and prosperity of our state,” she said.
