A House of Assembly aspirant in Abeokuta South Constituency II, Hon. Olalekan Jiboku, has sponsored the West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WAEC) registration fees for eight students of Yetuns International College, as part of efforts to support education and ease financial burdens on families in the constituency.

The scholarship initiative, which targets students across the constituency, was described as a commitment to empowering young people and giving them a fair chance at academic success through the West African Examinations Council examinations.

While visiting the students on Monday, Hon. Jiboku urged the beneficiaries to see the opportunity as a stepping stone toward a brighter future.

Jiboku represented by his aide Mr Ridwan Adenekan encouraged them to take their studies seriously and justify the confidence reposed in them.

“Students should see this scholarship as proof that they are destined for greatness. Many other students are seeking this same opportunity, so you must make the best use of it,” Adenekan said on behalf of the aspirant.

Also speaking, the school proprietor, Hon. Tajudeen Adebayo Jimoh, expressed deep appreciation to Jiboku for supporting education and easing the burden on struggling families.

Jimoh noted that some of the beneficiaries had been finding it difficult to pay their WAEC fees, adding that the intervention would significantly improve their chances of completing their secondary education successfully.

“I sincerely appreciate Hon. Olalekan Jiboku for sponsoring these students. Many of them have been struggling to pay their WAEC fees. This gesture will go a long way in shaping their future,” Jimoh said.

He further called on other philanthropists and well-meaning individuals to emulate Jiboku’s example by investing in the education of young people across the community.

He added that the selection process ensured fairness and inclusiveness, as students were chosen from different wards within Abeokuta South Constituency II to benefit from the scholarship scheme.

One of the beneficiaries, Adebayo Aliat, expressed gratitude for the support, saying the scholarship had lifted a major financial burden from her family and motivated her to study harder.

Another beneficiary, Odenike Khalid, also appreciated the initiative, promising to remain focused on his studies and make the most of the opportunity provided.

END.
