The 2025 annual camp meeting of Seventh-day Adventist Church, Ogun Conference has been concluded successfully despite efforts by the devil to stop the annual gathering.
Before the commencement of the programme, held between December 10th and 14th, 2025 at the Conference Camp Ground, Ayoyo Village, Abeokuta, there was palpable fear as a result of security challenges across the country, especially with the recent attack on a religious gathering in Kwara state.
In spite of this, members put the fear behind them and turned out in their large numbers at the Camp Ground with the available hostel facilities all occupied while many built makeshift accommodations.
Having failed to put fear in the minds of members and stopped them from coming to the Camp, the devil tried to force the Camp to stop abruptly by causing the Camp Committee Chairman, Pastor Jacob Olajide and his family to involve in an accident on their way to the program.
“We are serving a living God. He did not allow the plans of the devil to come to pass. The devil wanted us to stop this ongoing Camp Meeting but God said No. If there were loss of lives in that terrible accident or in the incident that involved the Children’s Ministry Director this morning, the Camp would have ended abruptly”, said the Conference Executive Secretary, Pastor Moses Olaifa while addressing members during the Divine Service.
In his sermon which focused on the theme of the Camp Meeting, “Jesus Is Coming: I Will Go”, the Ogun Conference President, Pastor Adeyinka Samuel Ogunseitan remarked that Christ’s Second Coming will be meaningless to those who do not accept the reasons why He came the first time.
Pastor Ogunseitan therefore charged the congregation to appropriate the reasons for Christ’s first coming in order to be well prepared to go out and tell others about His second coming.
The Ogun Conference President who quoted copiously from relevant portions of the Bible gave six reasons why Christ came the first time including: to seek and save the lost (Luke 19:10); to make the Father known to mankind (John 14:8-9); to destroy the works of the devil, such as fear, unbelief, love for sin, lawlessness, etc (1 John 3:8).
Other reasons, according to Pastor Ogunseitan are: to show how much mankind needs God (John 15:5); to prove God’s love by demonstrating His love for us (John 3:16) and to bring judgement to the world (John 9:39).
He urged the people to cooperate with God to destroy the works of the devil in their lives by being holy, adding that they should strive to love sacrificially as Christ did and be able to work for the salvation of others.
The 5-day programme featured lectures on Witnessing and Evangelism, The Relevance of the Spirit of Prophecy for our time, Causes of Untimely Death, Healthy Living and the importance of Physical Exercises, among others.
The highpoint of the 2025 Annual Camp Meeting which ended on Sunday, December 14th, was a prayer vigil on the Sabbath night during which prayers were offered for the church and its leadership at all levels, the peace, security and unity of the country as well as God’s continuous guidance amidst life challenges.
