As Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola CON FCA YAYI marks his second anniversary in office – as the Senator representing Ogun West, the people of the senatorial district have much to celebrate. Since his inauguration on June 13, 2023, Senator Yayi has demonstrated unwavering commitment to the development of his constituency, delivering impactful projects and initiatives that have transformed the lives of Ogun West indigenes.
With a strong focus on infrastructure development, healthcare, education, human capacity development, economic empowerment, security, and community development, Senator Yayi has made significant strides in the last two years. Here are 24 mega achievements that showcase his dedication to the people of Ogun West:
On Infrastructure Development;
– Construction of over 300 rural roads and facilitation of the 107KM Ilara–Ilashe road
– Completion of the Yewa Think Tank House, ultra-modern town halls, and the iconic Asade Agunloye Pavilion
On Healthcare Development;
– Facilitation of over 40 Primary Healthcare Centers and establishment of a fully-equipped ICU at General Hospital Ota
– Execution of free medical outreaches and solar mini-grid installations in hospitals
On Education and Digital Empowerment;
– Sponsorship of the Federal Polytechnic Ilaro upgrade bill – now signed into law
– Construction of classrooms in about 50 schools, donation of 60 mini buses to 12 schools, and establishment of ICT centers
– Award of scholarships to about 10,000 Ogun West students in tertiary institutions
On Economic Empowerment;
– Distribution of economic tools, grants, and vocational training in fishery, agrobusiness, and skilled trades
– Development of solar-powered markets, business hubs, and mini-grids to support MSMEs
On Security and Safety Infrastructure;
– Establishment of a MOPOL base in Ilaro, Police Station in Iwoye, and an Area Command HQ in Idiroko
– Provision of operational vehicles to security agencies
On Religious and Cultural Development;
– Sponsorship of over 300 religious pilgrims and financial support to churches and mosques
– Construction of the Idofa Palace to support traditional institutions
On Power and Electrification Projects;
– Installation of solar-powered streetlights across towns, markets, and highways
– Distribution of transformers and support for electrification projects
– Deployment of solar mini-grids in hospitals and strategic places
On Jobs and Federal Appointments;
– Facilitation of about 100 federal jobs for Ogun West indigenes
– Appointment facilitation for over 50 Ogun West indigenes as Special Legislative Aides and Legislative Aides in the National Assembly
On his Legislative Impact;
– Serving as Chairman, Senate Committee on Appropriations, where he has been able to showcase his leadership skills as a manager of resources and trusted Senator of both the leadership of Assembly, and a key enabler for the implementation of the Renewed Hope agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR.
- Sponsorship of 10 bills and 5 motions, including the Federal University of Technology Ilaro Bill and amendments of the ICAN bill.
On Community and Social Development;
– Provision of more than 50 solar-powered boreholes across rural communities
– Construction and modernization of local markets with public toilet facilities across the length and breadth of the district.
– Agricultural empowerment through gifting of fertilizers, improved seedlings, and farm equipment
On Youth and Women Development;
- Launch of inclusive ICT and digital empowerment programs for youths, women, civil servants, as well as traditional rulers too, and implementation of various women empowerment initiatives.
These achievements demonstrate Senator Yayi’s commitment to the development of Ogun West and his dedication to improving the lives of his constituents. As he continues to serve the people of Ogun West, it is clear that his impact will be felt for generations to come.
