The Ogun State Governorship candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress(NDC) Dr. Bolaji Odusina, has pledge to address hunger and economic hardship in the state of elected governor in the 2027 elections.
Odusina said that her administration would focus on policies designed to expand access to education, healthcare, employment, infrastructure and other essential services.
She spoke at the flag off of the NDC governorship campaign rally on Wednesday at Alake Palace, Abeokuta, saying that NDC remains the alternative, urging voters to access candidates based on the programmes and capabilities to deliver rather than their political affiliation and or gender
Odusina said the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, and the All Progressives Congress, APC, had governed the country at different times since 1999, but argued that many Nigerians were still confronted by economic difficulties.
The United States-based medical doctor therefore called on Ogun residents to support the NDC and vote for its candidates in the 2027 elections.
She said: “I know I can take hunger and hardship from the people of Ogun State. I am capable to cause that change because I know, with all my success and history, I know I can cause that change because I am a self-made woman and every businesses I have, I built from the scratch”.
According to her, her experience in various businesses abroad would be brought to bear on the development of Ogun State, with a focus on projects and policies capable of improving the living conditions of residents.
She said the party’s 12-point agenda was designed to address key areas of development and provide solutions to some of the challenges confronting.
The agenda, she explained, covers quality education, accessible healthcare, clean water, upgraded hospitals, insurance, job creation, modern infrastructure, agricultural revolution, security, transparent governance, improved power supply and durable road network.
Odusina said she would draw on her knowledge of governance systems in the United States to promote people-centred projects and pursue development standards that would position Ogun State for greater economic and social progress.
She also urged voters to reject voter apathy and participate in the electoral process, stressing that residents had a role to play in determining the leadership and direction of the state.
The NDC candidate further appealed to voters to look beyond political affiliations and gender when choosing candidates, saying priority should be given to individuals with the capacity to address their needs and deliver development.
She said her administration, if elected, would focus on programmes aimed at reducing hardship and creating opportunities for residents across the state.
Earlier, the party chairman, Hon. Femi Alao, formally presented the party’s flag to Odusina and her running mate, Hon. Adeyemi Adesina, as the party commenced its governorship campaign activities ahead of the 2027 elections.
Alao also urged party leaders and members across the state’s 20 Local Councils to embark on door-to-door mobilisation to canvass support for Odusina and other candidates contesting under the party’s platform.
He said the mobilisation was aimed at securing victory for the party in all elective positions in the 2027 elections.
The rally marked the formal commencement of the NDC’s campaign to seek the support of Ogun voters for its candidates in the forthcoming elections
