
The Chairman of the Nigerian Society of Engineers (NSE), Abeokuta Branch, Engr. Olumayowa Idowu, FNSE, has been appointed by the Federal Government to serve on the Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) Review Panel for the proposed Sigma Industrial Park Project, located in Kemta Orile, Ajipatutu Village, Ewekoro Local Government Area of Ogun State.
The appointment was formally conveyed in an official letter dated 8th August 2025 from the Federal Ministry of Environment, signed by the Honourable Minister of Environment, Malam Balarabe Abbas Lawal. The selection reflects the Ministry’s recognition of Engr. Idowu’s professional expertise and extensive experience in engineering and environmental matters.
As a member of the multi-agency Review Panel, Engr. Idowu will contribute to the technical evaluation of the project’s draft EIA report. The panel’s mandate includes assessing baseline environmental data, identifying any gaps, and reviewing the adequacy of proposed mitigation measures, with special attention to engineering-related considerations.
Reacting to the appointment, Engr. Idowu expressed appreciation for the trust reposed in him and reaffirmed the panel’s commitment to delivering a comprehensive and objective review that promotes industrial growth while safeguarding environmental sustainability.
The Sigma Industrial Park Project, being developed by Sigma Industrial Park Limited, is expected to stimulate industrial activity, generate employment, and enhance infrastructure development in Ogun State. The panel’s findings and recommendations will be submitted to the Federal Ministry of Environment for final approval.
