FEDERAL ROADS IN EKITI NOW DEATH TRAPS – OTUNBA FAYOSE WRITES TINUBU

In his quest to ensure that people eave a sigh of relief in his state, the Governorship Aspirant in Ekiti state, Under the platform of Peoples Democratic Party, PDP Otunba Emmanuel Fayose has written a passionate appeal letter to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on the deplorable state of federal roads within the state noting that it has claimed many lives, badly affected economic well being of people and destroyed many vehicles.

In a letter entitled :”EKITI STATE FEDERAL ROADS IN CRISIS: A CALL FOR STATE OF EMERGENCY AND SWIFT FEDERAL INTERVENTION” addressed to the president and obtained by newsbarrelng, the Governorship aspirant lists the affected roads.

The letter read:

Otunba Emmanuel Fayose,
PDP Governorship Aspirant,
Ekiti State 2026,
Bank Road, Ado-Ekiti,
Email: otunbafayose4ekitigov2026@gmail.com
Date: August 1, 2026.

His Excellency,
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR,
President, Federal Republic of Nigeria,
Presidential Villa, Aso Rock, Abuja.

Sir,

EKITI STATE FEDERAL ROADS IN CRISIS: A CALL FOR STATE OF EMERGENCY AND SWIFT FEDERAL INTERVENTION

As a concerned citizen and proud son of Afao-Ekiti, I, Otunba Emmanuel Fayose, write this public petition not as a partisan actor, but as a voice for millions of distressed commuters, farmers, traders and families suffering daily from the horrific state of federal road infrastructure across Ekiti State.

Key federal routes in the state – including:

  • Ado–Ijan–Ikare Road
  • Ado–Ikere–Akure Road
  • Aramoko–Ilupeju–Ita Ure Road
  • Efon–Iwaraja Road among others. They have virtually collapsed.

These once vital lifelines are now death traps-riddled with massive potholes, eroded culverts, and impassable sections. They are no longer roads; they are open invitations to bandits, kidnappers and economic stagnation.

The Consequences Are Dire:

  • Lives are being lost.
  • Businesses are strangled.
  • Security is compromised.
  • Farm produce can’t reach markets.
  • Emergency services face delays.

This infrastructure decay is not merely a state issue, it is a national emergency.

Therefore, I respectfully demand the following:

  1. Declaration of a State of Emergency on all federal roads within Ekiti State.
  2. Immediate mobilization of palliative and permanent reconstruction teams by the Federal Ministry of Works.
  3. Legislative escalation: All Ekiti representatives in the National Assembly must raise this crisis as a matter of urgent national importance.
  4. Deployment of security patrols along these roads to prevent further loss of life and property.

Your Excellency, the disparity in federal road infrastructure between the North and South-West is alarming. While many Northern and Eastern corridors have seen substantial attention, the South-West and particularly Ekiti, has suffered neglect.

This is not the time for politics. This is a call for justice, equity and responsible governance.

History will remember your leadership not for speeches, but for decisive actions. The people of Ekiti are watching. Nigerians are watching. Humanity is watching.

Let it be said that during your presidency, Ekiti’s roads were rebuilt, lives were saved and dignity was restored.

For the good of our people and the prosperity of our nation, I humbly submit this appeal. May God guide you to act swiftly.

Yours in service,
Otunba Emmanuel Fayose
PDP Governorship Aspirant, Ekiti 2026
