
The Ogun State Security Network, Amotekun, has foiled a daring robbery attempt in Akinale Town, Ewekoro Local Government Area, in the early hours of today, June 7, 2025. Responding swiftly to a distress call at 1:20 AM, the Amotekun team from the Ewekoro Command arrived at the scene to find the thieves attempting to flee in a wine-colored Kia Cerato vehicle (KRD 840 JS).
The robbers, who had shot a 28-year-old man, Opeyemi Olusanya, in the upper region of his left limb, escaped into the nearby bush, leaving behind their operational vehicle and valuables including mobile phones, laptops, jewelry, and ₦54,000 in cash. The vehicle has been handed over to the Itori Division of the Nigeria Police for further investigation.
The statement signed by the Deputy Corps Commander OGSSN Col. TT Bakare (Rtd) added that the gunshot victim has received urgent medical attention at a private hospital in Obada-Oko. The local community has praised the Amotekun’s prompt and proactive action, highlighting their commitment to protecting citizens.
The Ogun State Amotekun Corps has initiated a thorough investigation into the robbery and the escape of the robbers, in collaboration with the Nigeria Police.
