The Ogun State Council of Radio, Television and Theater Arts Workers Union RATTAWU has elected Comrade Gbenga Fagbenro of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism (MCT) Chapter as the New Chairman of the Union.
Comrade Gbenga Fagbenro who defeated the incumbent Chairman Comrade Idowu Rotimi with Forty votes to Ten votes appreciated members of the Union for their support which led to his emergence , promised that his administration would be all inclusiveness.
Earlier, the Outgone Chairman Comrade Idowu Rotimi while commending the State Government for creating an enabling environment have kudo for the members of the Union from the five chapters for believing in his administration
National Vice President South West, Comrade Dare Durosinmi who directed the affairs of the voting exercise, applauded the peaceful manner at which the delegates conducted themselves saying it was an exhibition of maturity.
“Let me describe the process of the election by saying that it’s engaging, it shows that Union is very important by the turn out of the members of delegates , they are all interested in who become their leader.
When they realize that their Leader has to be chosen by them, and I think the kind of Leader they choose today, they would be proud of him because they choose him”.
Comrade Durosinmi who is Contesting for the post of National President of the Union from South West in the forthcoming National Delegate Conference of the Union in July this year, enjoyed the newly executive members to be proactive in their dealings as Union Leaders.
” National Delegate that is coming, I am contesting for the position of National President of our Union RATTAWU, I belief I have value to add being at the Chapter, State and Zone and people see that I can deliver, that is why I was being approached to contest and that is why belief this election, i’ am going to win it and we are going to change the narrative of our Union for the better”
Former State Chairman Comrade Adebowale Akinwunmi and Comrade Seye Adeyemo who witnessed the emergence of the new executive members of the Union applauded the Conduct of the exercise enjoyed the new exco to allow welfare of their members to their wacth word.
The Union is an affiliate of the Nigeria Labour Congress NLC, for this reason, Chairman, NLC Ogun State Council Comrade Hammed ADEMOLA Benco was part of the historical event admonished them that agitation of the Union should not always be as confrontational but through dialogue .
The office of the Vice Chairman of the Union was occupied by Comrade Seun Bodunrin from NTA, while that of Secretary is occupied by Comrade Bisola Oludotun from OGBC.
Others are Comrade Gbemisola ADENIYI as Assistant Secretary from NTA Chapter, Comrade Kolawole Oso as Treasurer from OGTV Chapter, Comrade Ayo Omotosho as Financial Secretary from Paramount FM Chapter, Comrade Jumoke Adeniregun, Representing OGBC, while Comrade Kunle Idowu is Publicity Secretary, Representing OGTV.
