Jubilant scenes erupted at the Ebenezer Primary School, Agbe Road, on Saturday, as Sanya Olusegun Elijah, widely known as Olumose, was declared the winner of the All Progressives Congress (APC) primary election for the councillorship seat in Ward C, Ojokoro Local Council Development Area (LCDA) of Lagos State.

Olumose polled a total of 10 votes to emerge as the APC flagbearer, defeating other aspirants in an exercise described by party officials and observers as orderly and transparent. The election was conducted under the supervision of APC electoral committee members and witnessed by representatives of security agencies.

Following the declaration of results, chants of victory filled the air as supporters and well-wishers celebrated the outcome, describing it as a reflection of the will of the people at the grassroots level.

In his remarks, Olumose expressed gratitude to the delegates, party leadership, and members of his community for their support and confidence in his candidacy. He assured constituents of his readiness to deliver inclusive representation and champion development initiatives across the ward.

“This is not just a personal victory but a collective one. I am deeply honoured by the trust reposed in me and I pledge to be a voice for the people of Ward C. My focus will be on delivering tangible developmental outcomes that touch lives at the grassroots,” he said.

Leaders of the APC in Ojokoro LCDA commended all aspirants for conducting themselves with maturity, urging unity among party members as preparations begin for the forthcoming local government elections.

Saturday’s councillorship primary was part of the APC’s broader effort to select chairmanship and councillorship candidates across Lagos State’s 57 local councils and LCDAs, in preparation for the 2025 local government polls.
