Pelican Valley Nigeria Limited has expressed its readiness to collaborate with the Police Officers Wives Association (POWA) to empower more women and Nigerian families.

The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Pelican Valley, Ambassador (Dr) Babatunde Adeyemo, disclosed this when he received the delegation of Ogun State chapter of the POWA led by the Chairperson and the wife of the state Commissioner of Police, Rev. (Mrs) Olubusola Lanre Ogunlowo in Abeokuta on Tuesday.

He called for collective efforts to make a difference in communities and create a brighter future for women, children and families.

Adeyemo spoke, who is also the promoter of Oko Opo Foundation, a charity organisation that caters for widows, children and the underprivileged members of society, lauded the leadership of the association, at both national and sub-national levels, for various initiatives and developmental strides being undertaken to better the lots of officers’ wives and children.
He also saluted the wife of the Inspector General of Police and President of POWA, Deaconess Elizabeth Egbetokun, for her commitment to improving the welfare of police widows and orphans, even as he commended the role being played by Mrs. Ogunlowo, praying that God should elevate her to lift more women and children out of difficulties.
He said, “We are thrilled to have you here, and I must say, it is a pleasure to host such an esteemed group of women who are making a significant impact in their communities. Your organisation’s commitment to supporting the welfare and well-being of police officers and their families is truly commendable.

“Interestingly, I once covered the event of your association some 20 years ago when I was a cub reporter.

“Ever since I have known about POWA, it has all been positive stories I do hear about the association. Therefore, let me commend the leadership of the association, at both national and sub-national levels, for various impressive initiatives and developmental strides.”

“I must put on record that Rev. Ogunlowo ranks among the first to initiate this of kind of visit to stakeholders and strategic partners in the state. At Pelican Valley Nigeria Limited, we are happy with you and all you do. Your visit today signifies the importance of collaboration and mutual support between POWA and our company,” he added.

He expressed the confidence that the Pelican Valley’s partnership with POWA will be mutually beneficial and will also contribute to the betterment of the society.

He also recalled that through his foundation, Pelican Valley has been in a strategic partnership with the Nigerian Police and through it, provided the Police Children’s School, Eleweran, Abeokuta with school bags and relief materials to support their education in addition to the power generating set and funds earlier donated to the Eleweran Main Mosque as well as public address system provided to the public relations unit of the Police Command among other support initiative.

He noted that those initiatives were a testament to the company’s commitment to giving back to the community and supporting the efforts of the Nigeria Police Force in maintaining law and order in the state.

“We believe that a safe and secure environment is essential for the well-being and prosperity of our citizens, and we are proud to have played a part in enhancing the infrastructure of the Ogun State Police Command.

“It may interest you to know that apart from my professional engagement as a realtor, I also promote Oko Opo Foundation, a not-for-profit non-governmental organisation dedicated to empowering and giving succour to the widows and the less privileged in the society. This foundation, of course, has integrated some police officers’ widows into its empowerment scheme.

“Our empowerment programmes include skills training, economic empowerment and educational support, among others. We are still planning to do more by God’s grace. We believe that no one should be left behind, and we are committed to making a positive impact in the lives of those who need it most.

“We are open to exploring potential areas of collaboration. We recognise the importance of partnerships in driving positive change, and we are pleased about the possibility of working together with POWA to empower more women and families. We must collectively make a difference in our communities and create a brighter future for all.”

In her remarks, Rev Ogunlowo commended the Pelican Valley CEO for his integrity, humility and simplicity, especially his kindness to the widows, children and the less privileged.

She reminded Adeyemo that God has given him a platform, urging him not to relent in using it to lift people from the challenges of living.

She said, “When God has given you an assignment, the way you are going to take it is going to be different. A lot of people in the real estate business don’t care about integrity. They don’t even know what integrity is all about. You know, when we came in, I saw you looking cool, looking gentle.

“I bless God for your spirit as well. That kind spirit. Giving is a gift. I have widows I give support and If I don’t do it I can’t rest. When God has given you a platform, what do you do with it? You make an impact. The only way you show God’s love is when you reach out to others.”
