Yesterday, I received the heartbreaking news of a tragic accident involving market men and women transporting their goods via the waterway to Ajebo Market, Makun-Omi, in Ogun Waterside Local Government.
According to an eyewitness, Leader Akintubuwa Godwin, the unfortunate incident resulted in injuries and the loss of valuable items. He noted that the jetty was last constructed during the second term of former Ogun Waterside Local Government Council Mayor, Otunba Tayo Ajayi.
I extend my deepest sympathy to the good people of Igboedu over this devastating incident, which occurred on Friday, February 21, 2025.
This is a painful and distressing event. As someone who deeply shares in the pain of those who lost their goods and sustained injuries, I pray that God grants them comfort and a swift recovery. For those who lost valuable possessions, I pray that God replenishes and elevates them beyond their losses.
I urge relevant stakeholders to take immediate and necessary action to ensure the safety of lives and property and to implement measures that will prevent such incidents in the future.
Please accept my heartfelt condolences, unwavering support, and encouragement during this difficult time.
