Controversy Erupts in Abeokuta South APC as 7 Councillorship Aspirants Reject Unconstitutional Primary Election

A deepening internal crisis within the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Abeokuta South has led to 7 out of 10 councillorship aspirants in Ward 01 Ake rejecting the party’s plan to conduct a primary election. The aspirants accuse party leaders of bias and selfish intentions in the selection of delegates to vote in the election, which has been increased to 50 without justification.

The aspirants, who spoke to media crew, include Hon. Olanrewaju Orija Atanda, Akinbile Bamidele, Sulaimon Yussuf Omolaja, Samod Akinola Solotan, Taofeek Sowemimo, Adenekan Ganiu, and Adeniji Omotolani Khadijat.

They pointed out the inconsistency in the number of delegates used in previous elections, questioning why 50 delegates were suddenly adopted for the councillorship election.

The aspirants have appealed to Chief Yemi Sanusi, Chairman of the APC in Ogun State, Governor Prince Dapo Abiodun, and other party executives to intervene and address the situation before it escalates further.

They expressed concerns that the actions of the party leaders in Ward 01 could destroy the party due to their selfish intentions and “moneybag politics.””

Efforts to reach the party ward chairman for comment were unsuccessful, as his phone number was unreachable after 24 hours.
