Ogun Judiciary Workers To Embark on Strike Over Non Payment Of Peculiar Allowance

…as JUSUN Issues 21 Days Ultimatum to State Government

The Judiciary Staff Union of Nigeria, JUSUN Ogun State Branch has issued 21 days ultimatum to the Ogun state government to pay 40percent peculiar allowance to its members or face strike action

The Union gave the notice in a communique jointly signed by JUSUN’s state Chairman , Comrade (Lion) Ajiboye Olanrewaju Tunji and The Assistant Secretary, Comrade Adeyemo Adekanbi J. at the end of its Extra ordinary Meeting, held at the high court premises, Isabo , Abeokuta, Ogun state.

The Union in session appreciated governor Dapo Abiodun for the payment of the 40percent Peculiar Allowance to workers in Ogun state public service but frowned over the exclusion of state Judiciary workers despite several letters written to government to accommodate them as that will cushion the effects of the harsh economic situation.

The communique further stated that the union after Liaising with the national body has resolved to embark on 5 days warning strike starting from Monday 26th February 2024 if government fails to comply within the 21 days ultimatum window , while the warning strike will be followed by indefinite strike action on Monday 18th March, 2024 if the demand is not met.

According to the Seven Points Communique “The Congress in session after an exhaustive and robust deliberation on issues resolved as follows:-

“1. The Congress in-session appreciates His Excellency, The Governor of Ogun State, Prince Dapo Abiodun CON, MFR for the Implementation and payment of Forty Percent (40%) Peculiar Allowance to the Workers in the Ogun State Public Service.

“2. The Congress in-session commends the Hon. Chief Judge of Ogun State Judiciary, Hon. Justice M. A. Dipeolu, FICMC, FHNR and The Hon. President of Ogun State Customary Court of Appeal, Hon. Justice Adebisi Olusola Femi-Segun for the permission granted to the Union to hold her Extra Ordinary meeting (Congress) at High Court/Customary Court Premises, Isabo, Abeokuta.

“3. The Congress in-session frowns at the continuous non-payment of the Forty percent (40%) Peculiar Allowance to the Ogun State Judiciary workers despites all the letters written to His Excellency, The Executive Governor of Ogun State, The Head of Service and other relevant authorities in the Ogun State Civil Service.

“4. The Congress in-session with the backing of the National body of the Union thereby issues a 21 days ultimatum starting from Saturday 3rd February, 2024 for the payment of the forty percent (40%) peculiar allowance to the Ogun State Judiciary Workers.

“5. The Congress in-session also resolves and appeal to the management of Ogun State Judiciary to commence the payment of posting/resettlement allowance to the workers of Ogun State Judiciary as earlier agreed with the Union and in compliance with section 3, rule 17301 of Ogun State Public Service Rules.

“6. The Congress in-session also calls on the management of Ogun State Judiciary to please consider distances and stop posting instructions directing Judiciary workers to resume to their new stations with immediate effect.

“7. Finally, the Congress in-session resolves to embark on 5 days warning strike starting from Monday 26th February, 2024 and indefinite strike action on Monday 18th March, 2024 if Ogun State Government refuse or fail to comply with the 21days ultimatum issued by the Congress.

“Issued this 3rd day of February, 2024 at High Court/CCA premises, Isabo, Abeokuta.” The union Concluded.
