OGSAA Launches 2027 Mobile Advert Stickers, Warns Against Counterfeiting
The Ogun State Signage and Advertising Agency (OGSAA) has launched its 2027 Mobile Advertising Stickers, introducing enhanced security features to strengthen compliance, curb counterfeiting and sanitise the state’s mobile advertising sector.
The General Manager of OGSAA, Fola Onifade, disclosed this at the official launch of the 2027 stickers, describing the initiative as another milestone in the agency’s efforts to promote transparency, improve revenue generation and ensure an orderly mobile advertising environment in Ogun State.
Onifade explained that the new permits build on the agency’s existing electronic sticker system, with improved security and verification features designed to prevent forgery, protect legitimate operators and simplify enforcement activities.
He said the initiative was also aimed at strengthening the state’s Internally Generated Revenue (IGR), noting that revenue generated through the agency’s activities would contribute to infrastructure development, improved road networks and a more competitive business environment.

According to him, compliance with mobile advertising regulations would protect investments, sustain business visibility and enable advertisers to operate confidently without unnecessary disruptions.
The OGSAA General Manager, however, warned individuals and organisations against using forged or unauthorised permits, including receipts purportedly issued by accredited consultants, stressing that the agency would not tolerate fraudulent practices.
He disclosed that OGSAA had strengthened its daily and quarterly monitoring mechanisms, adding that offenders would face statutory fines and other enforcement measures.
Onifade urged corporate organisations, logistics operators, brand managers and other stakeholders in the mobile advertising industry to obtain the appropriate permits and take advantage of the agency’s digital application channels and customer support services for necessary guidance.
Speaking at the event, Chairman of the Mobile Advert Practitioners Association in Ogun State, Otunba Alan Shittu, said the exercise was designed to ensure that vehicles bearing commercial advertisements obtained the necessary authorisation from the state government.
Shittu explained that branded vehicles required permits to operate legally, adding that obtaining the appropriate approval from Ogun State would enable operators to move across the country without unnecessary concerns about the legitimacy of their advertising permits.
He described mobile advertising as a business activity that should remain separate from political considerations, noting that business operations would continue irrespective of the political season.
Addressing concerns over alleged harassment of motorists by enforcement personnel, Shittu acknowledged that some individuals might have acted improperly but maintained that the government had directed enforcement officials to discharge their responsibilities with civility.
He appealed to motorists and vehicle owners with commercial branding to regularise their permits to avoid unnecessary confrontations, while urging enforcement personnel to educate operators rather than harass them.
Also speaking, OGSAA Consultant on Mobile Advertising, Ayo Osipitan, clarified that the agency’s charges were not road taxes but statutory payments for advertisements displayed on vehicles.
Osipitan explained that OGSAA’s mandate covered advertisements across different platforms, including billboards, signboards, television and branded vehicles, stressing that mobile advertising was subject to the same regulatory requirements.
He said the agency was empowered by law to collect payments for advertisements displayed within the state, adding that vehicle owners should not confuse the regulatory charge with conventional road taxes.
On the display of political party branding on vehicles ahead of the 2027 general elections, the consultant said OGSAA was careful not to allow its regulatory activities to be interpreted as political interference.
He noted that the agency had deliberately focused its enforcement attention on corporate organisations, conglomerates and media-related advertisements to avoid allegations of selective treatment of political parties.
Osipitan maintained that OGSAA’s responsibility was to ensure compliance with advertising regulations without being drawn into partisan activities.
According to the Stakeholders, the launch of the 2027 mobile advertising stickers is expected to strengthen the regulation of mobile advertisements, improve compliance and enhance the agency’s contribution to the economic development of Ogun State.
