A student Union Leader who is also the National Secretary of the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS), Comrade Oladimeji Uthman, has canvassed support for the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate in Ogun State, Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola, popularly known as YAYI, and his running mate, Mrs. Kudirat Adegunwa-Balogun, ahead of the 2027 governorship election.
Uthman, who is also the Convener of the YAYI-KUDIRAT Students Campaign Organisation (YAKSCO), stated this on Tuesday at a press conference in abeokuta ,Ogun State, where he announced the formation of the students’ campaign body and formally declared its support for the APC governorship ticket.
He said YAKSCO’s endorsement followed extensive consultations with its leadership structures, campus stakeholders and members across the state, describing the YAYI-KUDIRAT ticket as a platform capable of sustaining development and expanding opportunities for young people.

According to him, Senator Adeola’s years of public service, legislative experience and interventions in education, infrastructure, human capital and community development informed the students’ decision to support his candidacy.
Uthman said the organisation was particularly interested in initiatives capable of improving the education sector, supporting students and creating more opportunities for youths across Ogun State.
He also commended the administration of Governor Dapo Abiodun for what he described as laying a strong developmental foundation in the state, particularly through industrialisation and investment attraction.
The NANS official argued that successful policies and developmental initiatives should not be discarded on account of political transition, but rather consolidated, improved and expanded for the benefit of the people.
He expressed confidence that Senator Adeola’s legislative experience, political exposure and national network would enable him to consolidate the achievements of the present administration and further position Ogun State for greater industrial and economic growth.
Uthman also welcomed the emergence of Mrs. Kudirat Adegunwa-Balogun as Adeola’s running mate, describing their combination of political, legislative, professional and corporate experience as complementary to the governance of the state.
He disclosed that YAKSCO had commenced engagements with students and stakeholders across campuses in Ogun State as part of its mobilisation ahead of the 2027 election.
The organisation, he said, would undertake voter registration awareness, voter education, sensitisation tours, campus engagements and interactions with student leaders to encourage responsible participation in the democratic process.
Uthman stressed that the campaign organisation would promote peaceful, issue-based and lawful political engagement, urging its members to respect divergent political opinions.
He said YAKSCO would deploy its campus structures, leadership networks and mobilisation capacity to take the message and developmental agenda of the YAYI-KUDIRAT ticket to students across the state.
The organisation subsequently reaffirmed its endorsement of Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola and Mrs. Kudirat Adegunwa-Balogun for the 2027 Ogun State governorship election, urging eligible students and other residents to participate actively and responsibly in the democratic process.
