Youth leaders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ogun Waterside have pledged to mobilise at least 6,500 votes for the party in the 2027 general elections, while calling for greater inclusion in its campaign and decision-making structures.

The pledge was made on Sunday, August 30, 2026, by Comrade Otuyiga Ibrahim, popularly known as IB-OLAT, on behalf of the Ogun Waterside Progressive Youth Caucus, at the APC general meeting held in the local government.

Otuyiga, while reaffirming the commitment of the youth constituency to the APC, urged party leaders to formally integrate youths into the campaign and grassroots mobilisation framework ahead of the elections.

He stressed that youth participation should not be limited to election periods, but should also encompass political planning, campaign coordination and decision-making within the party.

According to him, the numerical strength and grassroots reach of young people make them indispensable to the success of the APC in the 2027 elections.

The meeting attracted party leaders and stakeholders, including the Governor’s representative, Hon. Biyi Adeleye; APC candidate for the Ijebu North/Ijebu East/Ogun Waterside Federal Constituency, Hon. Joseph Adegbesan; the party’s Ogun State House of Assembly candidate, Hon. Lawal Shamsideen; and the Executive Chairman, Hon. Ganiyu Odunoiki.

Others present were Hon. Abudu Balogun, Hon. Akeem Balogun, Prof. Segun Awonusi, Hon. Tunde Rufai, Hon. Abass Wasiu, Asiwaju Odulaja, Hon. Ayebusuwa, Hon. Musa Abajo, Chief Tola Alimi and the APC Local Government Chairman, Chief Abiola Logere.

Youth representatives at the meeting included Comrade Tai Olufowobi, Balogun Sulaimon, Obipehin Kayode, Odebata T. and Adams Azeez, among others.

The 6,500-vote target is expected to form part of the APC’s broader grassroots mobilisation strategy in Ogun Waterside as political activities gather momentum ahead of the 2027 elections.

The call for greater youth inclusion also underscores the growing importance of the youth constituency in the mobilisation and consolidation of political structures across Ogun State.
