Ogun APC New Media Summit Rallies Support for Yayi’s Governorship Bid, Renewed Hope Agenda

Support for the governorship aspiration of Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola (Yayi) and the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu took centre stage at the Ogun State Progressives New Media Summit held in Abeokuta, where participants were urged to embrace ethical digital engagement and deploy social media to promote truthful information.

The summit, themed “Defending the Truth, Advancing Renewed Hope and Shaping the Future,” brought together, Political bigwigs in Ogun. State, social media influencers, online publishers, content creators and digital communication professionals from across Ogun State to discuss strategies for combating misinformation and promoting responsible political communication.

Declaring the summit open, Chairman of the Planning Committee, Jibola Lawal Orisadare, described the gathering as a strategic platform designed to equip digital communicators with the skills required to counter fake news, promote issue-based political discourse and effectively communicate the achievements of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and the vision of Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola (Yayi) for Ogun State.

Convener of the summit, Damilare Oloyede, said Ogun State remains one of Nigeria’s leading centres for political engagement on social media, stressing that the digital space would play a critical role in mobilising public support for the APC, the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the governorship aspiration of Senator Adeola ahead of the 2027 elections.

He urged participants to move beyond routine social media posting and embrace strategic digital communication capable of countering fake news, propaganda and misinformation with verified facts, while projecting the achievements of the Tinubu administration and the leadership qualities and developmental vision of Senator Adeola.

Oloyede also called on APC members to remain united, saying internal disagreements within the party had been resolved in the collective interest of ensuring victory for the party and advancing the Renewed Hope Agenda.

Resource persons, including seasoned journalists, media strategists, public relations practitioners and a constitutional lawyer, stressed the need for ethical communication and responsible use of digital platforms.

They expressed concern over declining creativity and meaningful engagement in the digital media space, urging content creators to prioritise professionalism, collaboration, continuous capacity building and value-driven content instead of chasing social media trends.

The experts also underscored the importance of fact-checking, responsible political messaging and digital literacy in strengthening democracy and building public trust.

The summit featured interactive sessions on digital communication, political messaging and strategies for promoting credible information in the evolving media landscape.

At the end of the programme, participants pledged to use their digital platforms to promote truthful reporting, ethical communication and constructive public engagement while mobilising support for the APC, the Renewed Hope Agenda and the governorship aspiration of Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola (Yayi) in Ogun State.
