The Yayi Progressives Movement (YPM) has announced plans to hold its official inauguration on Sunday, May 3, 2026, at the historic Ake Palace in Abeokuta, marking a significant step in its expanding grassroots mobilisation efforts.
The announcement was conveyed by the Director of State Media, Oluseun Joshua Oduneye, on behalf of the Movement’s Convener, Armstrong ‘Tope Akintunde. He described the event as a defining moment in consolidating the group’s structure and strengthening its influence across communities in Ogun State.
In recent months, YPM has emerged as a prominent grassroots platform focused on promoting political awareness, unity, and active citizen participation. The Movement has intensified its engagement at ward and community levels through coordinated outreach and strategic mobilisation initiatives.
At the core of its agenda is support for the governorship ambition of Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola, widely known as Yayi, ahead of the 2027 Ogun State gubernatorial election. The Movement is also backing President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s prospective second-term bid, while advancing the senatorial aspiration of Governor Dapo Abiodun in Ogun East.
Speaking ahead of the event, the State Coordinator of the Movement, Hon. Olusegun Kaka, said the inauguration is expected to draw key stakeholders, grassroots mobilisers, and supporters from across the state. He noted that the gathering would further solidify YPM’s reputation as a growing force in grassroots political organisation.
As preparations continue, the Yayi Progressives Movement says it remains committed to serving as a unifying platform dedicated to sustained mobilisation and the promotion of progressive leadership anchored on continuity, development, and inclusive governance.
