…Stakeholders, Youths, Ward Leaders Rally Around Bayewunmi

Hon. Babatunde Bayewunmi at the declaration of State House of Assembly ambition

A new wave of political momentum is sweeping through Abeokuta North as Nigerian-Canadian politician, Honourable Babatunde Bayewunmi (BRB), officially declared his intention to contest for the Ogun State House of Assembly under the All Progressives Congress (APC).

In what observers described as a defining moment in the race, Bayewunmi’s declaration at the Abeokuta North Local Government APC Secretariat drew a powerful and organic show of support. He was received by the Abeokuta North APC Chairman, Alhaja Faidat Sarumi, party executives, all 16 ward chairmen, and key stakeholders from across the constituency.

From the outset, the message was unmistakable—this is a candidacy built on popularity, credibility, and growing acceptance.

Stakeholders openly expressed confidence in Bayewunmi’s leadership, describing him as accessible, people-oriented, and deeply in touch with grassroots realities. Former Ward 9 Chairman, Edward Onifade, emphasized this connection:
“He does not distance himself from the people. He listens, he engages, and he understands our needs.”

The youth bloc also signaled strong alignment with his aspiration. Barr. Habeeb Whyte, legal practitioner and Deputy Coordinator of the City Boy Movement in Ogun State, stated that young people across the constituency are united and ready to support a candidate who represents their voice and future, affirming that Bayewunmi embodies that vision.

Supporters highlighted his solid academic and professional background. With a background in Political Science from Babcock University, he proceeded to study International Transportation and Customs at Seneca College, Toronto, Canada. He also studied Human Resources Management at the Canadian College of Business, Science, and Technology. He established his connection to the grassroots in Abeokuta North through a consistent record of scholarships and empowerment initiatives.

Addressing the gathering, Bayewunmi delivered a message rooted in service and shared progress:
“I have come home with a clear purpose: to serve, to listen, and to deliver. Development must be people-driven, and I am ready to work with our communities to achieve lasting progress. I respectfully seek the party’s mandate to represent our constituency.”

APC Chairman, Alhaja Faidat Sarumi, described the reception as impressive and encouraged the aspirant to remain consistent and committed to party ideals. Drawing a parallel with Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola (Yayi), she emphasized his perseverance and discipline.
“Stay consistent, stay committed, and keep engaging; success in politics comes with patience and dedication,” she said, assuring all aspirants of a fair process.

Also speaking, the APC Vice Chairman in the constituency, Hon. Ganiu Saba, emphasized loyalty and sustained grassroots engagement as key pillars for political growth within the party.

With consultations gaining momentum across the wards, Bayewunmi’s candidacy is rapidly positioning itself as a strong and credible option, energizing the youth, earning stakeholder confidence, and expanding its support base.

The declaration was attended by youth leaders and stakeholders from Gbagura, Owu, Oke-Ona, and Oke-Ogun communities, further reflecting the broad and growing appeal of his aspiration.

Abeokuta North is watching. The momentum is building and BRB is firmly in the race.
