A Prominent Youth member of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Asiwaju Oladayo Oladipupo, has formally declared his intention to contest for the Ogun State House of Assembly seat representing Imeko-Afon State Constituency, pledging purposeful representation and people-oriented legislation.
Oladipupo, who hails from Idofa Ward, made his intention known in a statement where he outlined his legislative vision and commitment to advancing the welfare of constituents through impactful policies and responsive governance.
A graduate of Olabisi Onabanjo University, the aspirant brings with him a wealth of legislative experience, having served as a Legislative Aide to the member representing Yewa North/Imeko-Afon Federal Constituency in the National Assembly. He also worked as a Senior Legislative Aide to the Deputy Senate President, roles he said have equipped him with a deep understanding of lawmaking processes, policy formulation, and effective oversight.
According to him, his exposure to legislative duties, including bill drafting, motion support, and institutional collaboration, has prepared him to deliver meaningful representation that addresses the real needs of the people.
“True representation goes beyond occupying a seat; it is about amplifying the voices of the people and translating their needs into actionable laws, policies, and development,” Oladipupo stated.
He unveiled a six-point legislative agenda focused on agriculture, education and youth empowerment, healthcare, infrastructure development, transparency, and social inclusion.
On agriculture, Oladipupo pledged to champion policies that would provide farmers with access to essential inputs, irrigation systems, and improved market opportunities. He also promised to prioritise education reforms and youth empowerment programmes aimed at equipping young people with skills for economic self-reliance.
In the health sector, the APC aspirant said he would advocate improved healthcare delivery, particularly in maternal and child health, while also pushing for better-equipped health facilities across the constituency.
He further assured constituents of effective legislative oversight to ensure proper execution of projects, alongside efforts to attract development in critical areas such as road infrastructure, water supply, and rural electrification.
Oladipupo emphasised his commitment to promoting transparency and accountability in governance, as well as advancing policies that protect and empower women and vulnerable groups.
Highlighting the evolving political landscape in Ogun State, he noted that the anticipated transition in the executive arm presents an opportunity to attract meaningful development to Imeko-Afon, adding that his experience positions him to effectively engage and lobby for the constituency.
“I have always maintained a close relationship with my people and understand our challenges because they are my challenges too,” he said.
The aspirant called on party members, stakeholders, and residents of Imeko-Afon to support his ambition, expressing confidence that with collective backing and divine grace, the constituency would witness renewed development and effective representation.
“The time is now,” he declared, reaffirming his alignment with the APC’s “Renewed Hope” agenda.
