Humility, Tolerance, Essential For Good Governance- Islamic Cleric Says

Islamic clerics have emphasised the need for humility and tolerance amongst leaders, not just of faith but in every sphere of life saying such virtues are essential for successful governance.

This submission was made by the Missioner Daru Soliheem Arabic and Islamic Center, Ota, Fadeelatu Sheikh Ibrahim Ajadi Yusuf, during the annual Salako Family Ramadan Lecture/ Tafsir held at the Ota Recreational Club Field, GRA Ota, organised by the Ogun State Deputy Governor, Engineer Noimot Salako-Oyedele.

The guest lecturer whose presentation was titled “Leadership and Followership in Islam: Lessons from the Life of Prophet Muhammad,” at the Programme which attracted clerics, Islamic groups and political associates from within and outside Aworiland stressed that the Prophet Muhammad was the model any Muslim in leadership positions must strive to emulate.

He opined that Ramadan was a period for spiritual reflection and guidance from the teachings of the Qur’an, praying that Almighty Allah grant faithfuls the needed strength to finish strong as the holy month gradually winds down.

Appreciating the clerics and muslim faithfuls present at the Tafsir, the Deputy Governor, Engr Noimot Salako-Oyedele noted that for the Salako family, the programme was a yearly thing, calling for unity and a shared sense of purpose amongst the various Awori clans, Yewaland, Ogun State and Nigeria at large.

In Separate goodwill messages, Dignitaries at the Occasion including the Chairman House of Assembly Commission, Hon Suraj Adekunbi noted that the initiative of the Deputy Governor was a commendable one, describing it as a godly approach to community development and responsible leadership.

They also added that the annual gathering provides an avenue for spiritual growth and unity amongst the Salako family, Muslims in Ota Awori and even beyond praying that this year’s event would not be the last.

The Programme also featured special prayers for Nigeria, Ogun State, its Leaders, Ota and the entire Aworiland.
