The Chairman of the Nigerian Society of Engineers (NSE), Abeokuta Branch, Engr. Olumayowa Ayodeji Idowu, FNSE, has highlighted some of the adopted inputs of the Ogun State House of Assembly that originated from submissions and technical engagements by the NSE Abeokuta Branch, noting that these contributions underscore the value of structured collaboration between the legislature and professional bodies. He thereafter solicited follow-up on the implementation of such adopted inputs, stressing the need to translate policy decisions into measurable outcomes for the overall benefit of Ogun State.

Engr. Idowu made this known during a courtesy visit to the Chairman of the Ogun State House of Assembly Service Commission, Engr. Rt. Hon. Suraju Ishola Adekunmbi, FNSE, as part of ongoing efforts to deepen cooperation between the engineering profession and public institutions in the state.

The visit, which took place at the Commission’s office in Oke Mosan, Abeokuta, provided a platform for constructive engagement on issues bordering on engineering professionalism, public service delivery, and the critical role of engineers in governance and legislative processes.

Speaking further, Engr. Idowu commended Engr. Adekunmbi for his distinguished career in engineering, legislative service, and public administration, particularly his tenure as Speaker of the Ogun State House of Assembly from 2011 to 2019. He reaffirmed the commitment of the NSE Abeokuta Branch to supporting government institutions with technical expertise and professional guidance to strengthen policy formulation and infrastructure development.

He also formally sought the support of the Commission Chairman for science, technology, and engineering-related bills, as well as broader legislative backing for policies that promote engineering education, innovation, infrastructure sustainability, digital practice, and local content development in Ogun State.

In his response, Engr. Adekunmbi appreciated the visit and acknowledged the constructive contributions of the NSE Abeokuta Branch to legislative processes. He reaffirmed his commitment to advancing the engineering profession and expressed readiness to support science, technology, and engineering-focused legislative initiatives, while encouraging sustained engagement to ensure effective implementation.

Both leaders emphasized the importance of continuous collaboration between professional bodies and legislative institutions to ensure that engineering expertise is fully integrated into policy formulation, implementation, and oversight, in line with Ogun State’s development aspirations.

The visit further underscores the NSE Abeokuta Branch’s advocacy for strong institutional partnerships and its resolve to position engineering at the forefront of sustainable development in Ogun State.
